SOUTHALL RIOT "Jimmy Glass EP" Details

Biography | Discography | Live | mp3s | Reviews

from unpeeled

On glowing pink vinyl, that's a tribute to Pink Floyd, they say. No trace of the inflatable pig molesters on this one, though. "Popcorn" is some kinda proto 60's guitar thing, "Jimmy Glass" is simple and simply excellent, rough n tender accoustic guitar over some oddly effective drum (?) sound, totally unsullied by human voice.
"Material" is plain weird, growling electronica lurks at the back of the mix as a battered acoustic n voice do a fair take on the it'll never happen Beck/Donovan collaboration. "Some Of My Better Days" is a lovely thing and when you find someone who can work "occasional days became welding sessions" into a tale of a disintegrating relationship, you better sit up and take notice.
