VG05 ANSUZ LÚNASA "Aqueous
Humour " |

from The Organ |
First track sounds like the speakers are imploding
- bangs, feedback, overdriven distortion roar, perfect for taking
down to Dixons for a hi-fi demonstration. Not very subtle. Track two,
Stille, is kind of wonderful: layers of soft, pulsing white noise,
very quiet, a far-off wind roar or barely discernable throb of a city
at night - strangely moving. Track 3 - a different variety of noise,
louder, more textured, lumps of sound float in it like Heinz Big Soup,
the main broth being somehow choir-like. In fact it's a whole album
of noise/drones/texture-based compositions and there's more variety
(and entertainment) than all the Oasis wannabe albums we get sent
every week. I got my copy from Karl at the Notting Hill Book & Comic
Exchange, currently the best place in London to hear avant garde music
due to the eclectic tastes of the boys behind the desk. The CD has
nice packaging, involving coloured film, spraypaint and possibly a
free tattoo. I must be going mad - I'm finding this droning, oscillating
machine shop chaos really very soothing. The cat likes it too |
